In 2021, “ASAR Live”, LLP was created within the framework of a tripartite agreement between “ASAR Live”, LLP and the West Kazakhstan Agricultural and Technical University after Zhangir Khan and the «ASAR» peasant farm, where, under the careful supervision of scientists, it deals with issues of preserving the saiga population, organize and participate in various events related to resolving issues of the extinction of this species. The organization has created a nursery the activities of which include breeding and domesticating saigas.
The activities of «ASAR Live» LLP are focused on a complex of veterinary and organizational measures that ensure strict compliance with all zoohygienic requirements, which are aimed at optimal conditions for feeding and keeping saigas, taking into account their physiological condition and age. Absolutely every saiga taken from the wild and transported to the nursery is under the painstaking supervision of staff. When delivered to the nursery territory, each saiga undergoes a systematic inspection and clinical examination.
These measures are being taken to timely identify signs of saiga diseases and eliminate them as quickly as possible, preventing the emergence of new or other diseases because one of the important factors of extinction, in addition to poaching, is infectious diseases to which saigas are susceptible.
The «ASAR Live» nursery was created specifically for scientific research on keeping and breeding saigas in semi-free conditions. It is worth noting that the nursery itself has all the amenities for conducting research: access to electricity from solar panels, there are all living conditions that allow researchers to be engaged in science, and there is access to high-speed Internet for communication.
The «ASAR Live» nursery, collaborating with the University teaching staff, zoo specialists and local executive authorities, resolves issues regarding the conservation and sustainable use of the saiga population.
